Canada understands the need to bring in foreign workers to help support the labour shortage and thus provide various immigration programs to support the transition.
The Home Support worker pilot and Home Child Care Provider Pilot are used to fulfill the Canadian workforce’s shortage of caregivers.
You can apply for Canadian Permanent Residency through any of these Canada Caregiver programs if you have a valid job offer in these occupations and meet the other eligibility requirements. Qualifying under these programs will get you an LMIA-exempt open work permit, restricting that specific occupation.
Previous Nanny Canada Programs:
- Caring for Children Program
- Live-in Caregiver Canada Program
- High Medical Needs Program – Caregiver
- Interim Pathway for Caregivers
These programs were used for hiring in-home/live-in Caregivers until 2019, but they were then taken over by:
- Home Support Worker Pilot
- Home Child Care Provider Pilot
